I sewed the #azurpattern by Atelier Scammit

When I spotted on @atelierscammit Instagram account a photo of a shirt with a Victorian ruffled collar, I was hooked very quickly. This classical piece, beautifully anchored to contemporary fashion, was exactly what I was looking for in my office outfits.

The indie patterns are often available on creator’s websites in pdf. files which are great when you are on the other side of the planet than the creator is, on the other hand an extra work is required in printing A4 pages and then completing them together to obtain a complete pattern. Personally, I don’t mind this additional work as long as the result is worth it in the end. Compared to sewing according to usual sewing magazines, I oftentimes experienced oversized models to my body measurements and also the confusing sewing instructions. Having attended the advanced sewing classes, I can still work independently on any sewing instructions, however, I guess for some sewists this might be a complete turn-off.

Yet speaking about #azurpattern, there was really no hassle. The English and French instructions were pretty clear and for those who prefer more visual guidance, there is a detailed step-by-step tutorial available on brand’s YouTube channel dedicated to this model. Regarding the size, the pattern is an excellent fit, the sizes perfectly correspond to indicated measurements.

Another great thing about this pattern is its wide versatility – actually a single pattern can be converted into many slightly different models, each containing modifications on collar or sleeves finishing.

Moreover, by adding extra centimetres, the shirt can be easily transformed into a shirt dress style. I couldn’t resist testing this option, and my white embroidered shirt dress you can see in the photo gallery is the outcome. In addition, the front and back yokes can be sewn from different materials which enhances the whole garment appearance. In the final stage, I slightly personalised my dress by adding the belt and opting for a snap fastener instead of classical buttons. The final touch is completely up to your taste and fantasy 🙂

Thanks to the great variety in collar and sleeve solutions I obtained two different beautiful clothes based on a unique pattern online purchase. So, sewing the #azurpattern was definitely great fun!
