It’s often true that, when you lead a creative blog, it requires a lot of time spent to take nice pictures, which might have an important impact on the overall appearance of the blog. Fortunately, I love styling my photos. In this article, I am going to show you my favorite sewing accessories that I often use for my photo shoots.
First, this vintage garden box, which I spotted on a home decoration online shop; although I love garden decorations as well, I knew (from the very first moment I saw this box) that I would use it for my sewing accessories. It reminds me of the old tools boxes that my dad used to have in his workroom. This piece was designed by Danish interior decor brand Ib Laursen.
My original field of study at the university was languages and, being a linguist, I really like the pure and elegant design of dictionary wall prints. This one seems to be perfect for any craft room and moreover, it looks gorgeous on any photo. 🙂
Then, this book… one of my beloved and very first sewing book that I have ever purchased; it’s actually the French version of Tessa Evelegh’s original version of The Great British Sewing Bee and it is filled with wonderful pictures and inspiration. Step by step instructions are present for each introduced model, as well as easily downloadable patterns (addresses for download are provided in the book). My Button Back Blouse or Edge-to-Edge Coat (which you can find in the Gallery section of this web site) were made using this book.
For a great effect on any couture photo: always have a vintage Singer machine present! I use mine quite often – especially because of the tailored and subtle delicate details which look gorgeous. It is a legacy to craftsmanship’s history.
A decorative clothes valet is another of my favorite requisite for any sewing photos that I take. The one illustrated here was bought in France and is made entirely of wood. The upper part is adorned with carved roses – something I absolutely love, as it adds a vintage touch to the whole valet.
Finally (of course), my fashion mannequin; I truly love the “boudoir” atmosphere created by this object in any room in which it is present, and not just in craft ateliers. Although it’s really only just a decoration, this dummy isn’t suitable at all for fashion draping, for instance, because of its metal construction. I truly enjoy having my fashion mannequin on every photo that I take with it! 🙂
